CBD gummies are candies infused with Cannabidiol Oil (CBD Oil). These candies are available in a plethora of colors, shapes, and varying concentrations of CBD. Companies have marketed CBD gummies aggressively in the recent past resulting in increasing popularity. In most states where medical marijuana is legal, a person would need either a cannabis card or a practicing physician’s recommendation to obtain medical marijuana gummies.

Interestingly, CBD gummies are not just for fun; they offer health benefits.

CBD is known for its anti-anxiety and soothing effects

CBD has also shown promise in the management of depression and sleep disorders. FDA has approved a CBD product called Epidiolex for use on epilepsy. Apart from these, CBD is also known for its anti-inflammatory and pain-killing properties. Some research conducted on pure CBD oil supports the benefits mentioned above. However, when it comes to gummies, there is not much research to refer to. As far as scientific evidence is concerned, there is hardly any research that confirms whether the gummies work or not. But anecdotal data show that some people do feel they work. Some experts believe that this is a placebo, and these don’t do much to relieve any symptoms. One thing that puts the benefits of gummies in doubt is the amount of sugar that is added to them. CBD itself is very bitter, and to disguise its taste, a lot of sugar is added to these candies, making them somewhat unhealthy in the process.

As far as legal status is concerned, the legality of CBD is debatable at every level. By Federal laws, hemp-derived CBD that contains less than 0.3% of THC is legal. Yet, the gummies may be illegal in some states. On the other hand, any CBD product derived from marijuana is strictly illegal by Federal laws. But they may be legal in some states.

    Free of psychoactive side effects

As far as the feeling of “high” associated with cannabis, CBD gummies don’t produce that feeling. CBD is not psychoactive, so it will not bring about any feelings of euphoria. It is mainly useful for providing relief from health conditions like insomnia, anxiety, inflammation, and a host of other psychological issues.

You can find a range of differences among these, which include THC, CBD, Hemp, etc. The plant is of two species Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa. Marijuana is derived from both species, yet Hemp is derived only from Sativa. The primary difference between hemp and marijuana is that – hemp is almost devoid of the psychoactive substance THC, whereas marijuana has a considerable amount of the same. CBD can be derived from both marijuana and hemp. THC is the chemical that produces the typical high that is associated with cannabis. But hemp alone does not deliver that sense of feeling euphoric or light-headed or even intoxicated.

Hemp, apart from its use in the making of CBD, is also an excellent material for making perfectly biodegradable products like paper, clothing, building materials, and biofuel.

    Approved by FDA

Coming back to the health benefits associated with CBD – one of the very pertinent benefits that even the FDA has recognized is the role of marijuana in the alleviation of symptoms of certain neurological disorders. Epidiolex, which we discussed earlier, has received approval from the FDA for use on two specifically severe variants of epilepsy. These are the Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and the Dravet syndrome. A host of other studies are underway, which aim at looking into the benefits of CBD in the case of other neurological diseases like Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, etc.
